Brain Fodder

I bought this book for my nerd of a husband for Christmas last year. And, while he's yet to flump his rear on the sofa and consume it, I have. Perhaps this was a case of "this-gift-is-for-you-but-it's-really-for-me syndrome." Either way, it has been my vocabulary fire-pike. Sometimes after a session my brain is quanked. But, because of this, I have learned that I am a questionist, that the word queue has five vowels in a row, and that I do not like being aparty to folderol. Other interesting finds:

~ fireflies are not flies, they are beetles

~“K” for strike-out in baseball comes from the last letter of “struck”

~To skice is to frisk about like squirrels in spring

~ a flurch is a multitude or great many things (not persons)

~ your ring finger is the leech-finger

~ my pursuit of word puzzles and interest in the science of words is called logology

~ a half-mask, like Zorro's and Batman's, is a loup

~ and, this weekend, I will be hiking a loma.

That's it for today! I am going out for a lounge.
